Toastmasters Meetings run to a format and follow an agenda which is useful because it allows meetings to run to time, and usually ensures meeting roles are filled in advance.

Meetings are broken into 2 sessions, with the following activity in each.

Session 1

  • Self-Introductions
  • Guest Welcome
  • Mission of the Club
  • Table Topics
  • Training

Session 2

  • Joke or Anecdote
  • Toast
  • Prepared Speeches
  • Ums & Ahs Report
  • Big Ears Report
  • Grammarian’s Report
  • Guest Comments

All roles and speeches at a Toastmasters meeting are evaluated.  This is an essential part of the Toastmasters experience and occurs in a supportive and constructive manner.  The intention of an evaluation is to provide positive feedback to the speaker, and to make meaningful suggestions for improvement.  In this way a Toastmaster is provided the opportunity to continuously improve, and the evaluation is relevant no matter how experienced the speaker.
